Dwarves 1992!
Back in 1992, my favourite band in the world was the Dwarves. And in the summer of that year, I got to see them twice - at the Trasheteria in Guelph and again in the basement of the Drake in Toronto.
Both were wicked, fast, fun and dangerous sets - in Guelph, there was a topless lady lying across the stage, and Blag got knocked down by the crowd and took a few punches; in Toronto, there were *many* bottles thrown and the floor was covered with broken glass and spilt beer (also, the Supersuckers played a cover of Ice Cube's Dead Homiez, which was great).
Here are some pics from the Guelph show. I interviewed the band too, but I'm be damned if I can find a copy of that now (if I ever do, I'll add it here).

The Beast of Revelations!
Or more properly the beasts of Daniel 7 and 8, and Revelation 13.
I even threw in the Whore of Babylon just to make it a party.
Has Penetrating Insights gone religious? Not at all. My interest here is the visual, the way-out way these biblical beasts look. You've got to admit these are some freaky beasts, whatever your beliefs may be. And these images here run the gamut, from the finest artists the world has produced, to some of the worst photoshops I, for one, have ever seen.
Enjoy these images then, but be careful not to worship them. For, as Revelation 14 tells us in verse 9 and 10:
“If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.”
So, seriously, don't worship these images, OK? I cannot be held responsible if you start drinking God's wine and things get ugly.
Not only are the images themselves striking, but the ideas these images convey are often wildly conspiratorial and all-encompassing in outlook. Nearly all political or religious powers of significance have at one point or another been identified as the Beast, including the Roman Empire, both the Roman Catholic and the Protestant Church, Britain, the U.S., Nazi Germany, Russia, the U.N., and most recently the E.E.C.
A beast for all tastes! Something for everyone!
Gotta close with a shout out to the magnificent Monster Brains, who were there first.
